"Stories, Kazoos and Dim Sum, Too!"

"The free arts program "Stories, Kazoos and Dim Sum, Too!" at Wild Child in Evanston welcomes author, illustrator and Fairy Houses maven Tracy Kane to a reading and book-signing special event.

"So," you ask, "what's a Fairy House, anyway?" Well, to answer this pressing question, as well as what to feed the kids on a Thursday night, the folks at Wild Child, 612 Davis Street in Evanston are absolutely thrilled to provide answers.

As always, children under 12 will dine for free following “Stories, Kazoos and Dim Sum, Too!” at Lulu's: Dim Sum and Then Some when they present their event stamp and are accompanied by a paying adult. Participants who save their dinner receipts from their "Wild" evening can get 2-for-1 colorful creature chopsticks on their next visit to the Evanston Wild Child store.

Fairy Houses Village - Opening Event!
Ocean View Retirement Community

Come celebrate a truly unique and very special event! Today will be the opening ceremony of a permanent Fairy Houses Village in the Oceanview Retirement Community. Residents will then be able to share the daily building of fairy houses with grandchildren and visitors, right in their own backyard!

Tracy Kane, author/illustrator of The Fairy Houses Series, will be present to join in the celebration.

It's outside (weather permitting) to start the building of this very special Fairy Houses Village. Come along and bring the family builders! Fairy costumes are always welcome. If you build a house for the fairies, will they come to visit? Bring some fairy houses building materials - twigs, sticks, pine cones, and other natural materials.

Children and adults of all ages are welcome!

It tells the story of Kristen and her mother starting a new life on an island off the coast of Maine and how the fairies help Kristen through these difficult times. See a special sampling of the Children's Theatre of Maine's newest production. Fairy Houses is a musical stage adaptation of Tracy Kane's award-winning book by the same name. The book tells the story of Kristen, a young girl in Maine who is fascinated by the fairy shelters she finds on a Maine island.

Come dressed in your fairy finest to see the program free with Museum admission and then book a date to see the entire production at the Children's Theatre of Maine. For tickets, call the box office at 828-0617.

Bring the whole family for a special and unique event!

10:00am - Book reading and signing by Tracy Kane at Books Etc.
10:30am - Field Trip. Go on a two minute drive, just down the road to Mackworth Island, where we will revisit our very special "Fairy Houses Village!" It's time to check on the village and do new fairy houses building and some home improvements to houses in need of a little tender loving care! The fairies will really appreciate our care and attention to their winter homes!

Bring the whole family. This should be one of the most fun events of the year! Feel free to bring some of your own "natural" fairy houses building supplies. Fairy costumes are always welcome! Remember a coat, in case it gets a little chilly.
