All ages are encouraged to join us in opening our minds and imaginations to the world of fairy houses. Tracy Kane, author of fairy house series, will be here to share her story. After the reading we will have our grand opening of our fairy house village! You’re welcome to bring any natural materials for constructing your own fairy house that you might not find here at the farm. Book signings and sales will be available after fairy house construction.

Tracy Kane will discuss the process involved in creating a book from concept to final illustrations and through the printing process using her books as examples. She will demonstrate how she uses color pencils to achieve a “pastel look” for her illustrations.

Tracy is Artistic Director of the 3rd Annual “Tour of Fairy Houses in Portsmouth, NH,” which takes place again September 22 and 23. The South End Neighborhood Assoc. hosts this event and is hoping to get Seacoast artist members involved in making fairy houses to display at the Sheafe Warehouse in Prescott Park. It’s a fun, creative activity and could potentially raise funds for the group.

Tracy will bring a fairy house and lots of photos to get your creative juices flowing, plus have books on hand to sign and sell.

A DAY OF ENCHANTMENT GARDEN PARTY
with Author Tracy Kane

Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area will host their 10th annual Garden Party, “A Day of Enchantment” at Fieldstone Garden. Special guest Tracy Kane, artist and author of “The Fairy Houses Series”, will offer 2 two-hour workshops at 9:30am and at 1:00pm. Kane will read her book Fairy Houses and then accompany children and adults into the pine forest to help build a “Fairy Houses Village”. Children are encouraged to dress as fairies, butterflies or dragonflies. Kane will be available for a book signing at mid-day.

A Day of Enchantment” will benefit Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area through sales of lunches, complementary care sessions, and raffle items. Live music, garden tours and workshops will round out the day. There is no admission fee and refreshments will be available for the children. Those who wish to reserve lunches and complementary care sessions should do so by June 12th. Join another celebration of nature with a pinch of fairy magic, as Tracy Kane leads Fairy Houses workshops. All ages are welcome!

We encourage families to bring their own natural items, although there are plenty of building material in the woods where we are building. Extra "decorative" items gathered by various garden clubs are available for a small fee.

Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine celebrates 75 years! The Children's Theatre will be performing “Fairy Houses - the Musical”. It will be their own adaptation from Tracy Kane’s "Fairy Houses Series™"

There will also be a creation of a Fairy Houses Village over the weekend on the theatre’s grounds by the local community and interested families.

Nature, creativity, a love for whimsy and a passion for fairies culminate in a weekend of building fairy houses, storytelling, music and dancing to learn how to cultivate the fairies living amongst us, including building fairy houses. Stroll down the Hillside Trail and Shoreland Trail where an exhibit of fairy houses and fairy gardens guide you to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ delightfully “famous” Fairy Village known throughout the midcoast.

Tracy Kane will be available for book readings, signings, plus fairy house building workshops!

Location and Directions to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
The Gardens are in mid-coast Maine, about an hour’s drive northeast of Portland and just 10 miles south of coastal Route 1.

From southern Maine: Follow signs to the Boothbay region. Soon after crossing the Wiscasset bridge on Route 1 North, turn right onto Route 27 South towards Boothbay. After 9.3 miles, bear right at the Boothbay monument, across from the town common and gazebo. Go straight at the stop sign immediately ahead. After 0.25 miles, turn right onto Barters Island Road. The entrance to the Gardens is about 1 mile ahead, on the left.

GRAND EVENT! Third Annual

Tour of Fairy Houses in Portsmouth, NH!
Presented by Friends of the South End

Due to the amazingly successful tours of the last two years where thousands attended, the Third Annual Tour is now scheduled! Tracy Kane will be present to help fairy houses fans to build their unique and imaginative habitats for the fairies to visit!

Last years tour raised almost $20,000 for local non-profit organizations! The tour will include Strawbery Banke, Prescott Park, plus of course building a Fairy Houses Village on Peirce Island!
