Lisa & her 3 Granddaughters- Jazmnye, Lyllie & Aleesia

I was looking at all the fun on your website & enjoying hearing about Tracy Kane's books for children. I will show you what I started to make for my Mother who is now 79 years young-

I have 3 granddaughters that live close to me, and we have a lot of fun gathering simple things for us to add to either some of my attempts to sculpt so, we have a baby cradle, made out of a walnut shell with soft down from the peacocks we have gathered here & the cradle is hanging from the rafters of the upstairs. The baby fairy is hiding inher soft lined walnut bed. but the Mother fairy is looking under the bed we also made out of twigs to find her baby ! It has been fun bringing back some of the simpler ways in life wtih my granddaughters & seeing the way they are so excited as we are bringing the fairy house to "life!"

When you enter inside it has little steps leading up to the bed - where a shelf has a book and a little lamp - just fun!! Acorns are set to depict birdhouses with holes.

There has been many hours put into this project but truly some wonderful times! We spent most of the time cutting a large pinecone from a trip I made on my way back from Lake Tahoe and used the large pinecone to make the roof shakes- I could go on & on. This lil fairy house may never be complete as we find more things to add to it during our walks, but maybe we will have to start a new one soon!

The fairy house has been a rather on going project, as the little fingers can't stand not being able to touch the things, but just wanted to share some of our simple yet fun times with whomever would like to view it!

I am enclosing the pictures of the girls that helped me with this project and their Great Grandma, whom the fairy house is being made for. Have a great day & thank you for the wonderful books!!

Lisa - (Grandma)

My grandchildren built a fairy house in our woods a few days before we were visited by 275 people on a garden tour. It gave the grumpy children on the tour with their mothers something fun to look for.

Hi there!
I am not sure how much feedback you get about various
things, but I had to share this with you both. When I picked up Jack from school on Friday, the very first thing he told me about was the fairy houses. I am assuming he first heard about it on Friday at Library time, because he said that he spent his whole recess making fairy houses (not playing soccer! ).

After school, he opted to not play "wall-ball" (I was shocked!) and, instead, he and another boy, George, made fairy houses nearby. We went on to pick up his sister from daycare and Jack initiated conversation with 2 of his former teachers (he is usually responsive to their questions, but does not run up and start talking with them). He was telling them all about the fairy houses and how they could teach their classes about them, too! He was talking about Tracy Kane and how the houses are built in nature, etc.

I could not believe how much of an impression this had made on him, but that was only the beginning ...
So, Friday, Saturday, and today he continued to build them-everywhere and anywhere we were. That is all he wanted to do! We had a block party on Sat and he even got the other kids on the street to come over and look at ones he built, and then they all started building them, too!

The houses have become more detailed and elaborate over the weekend - some are two stories with roofs, one has a water slide into a dog bowl (not nature, but oh well), one has a water supply made from an oyster shell, and I could go on.

So, to end this very long email, I just have to say thank-you! Jack has always been a great builder, but the creativity and imagination that has come from this has been unbelievable. The wonder of it all and excitement that I see in his eyes as he is building these houses for the fairies is what true teaching is all about-inspiring young minds!

Fondly,
Ashley Zapata

I have to tell you, you have SO inspired my grand daughter, Kyla Rose.  We have gone in the woods and collected materials and created some beautiful fairy houses.  She absolutely ADORES building them and the first thing she does when she comes to visit is run to the garden and check out the houses!

Thanks for the inspiration!

We learned about building fairy houses through Chinaberry catalog and then my sister got Kristen's Fairy House DVD for my nieces (9 and 12). The cousins always build fairy houses when they are together, pretty much all the time. Even the 12 year old girl and 5 year old boy, that's all they do, no matter the weather. My sister has a cottage on Lake Huron in Michigan, and there are many fairy houses all around it now. And they all build fairy houses with all their friends, too. At our bus stop in New Hampshire there are fairy houses, and now at all their friend's houses.

We went to the the Fairy Houses Tour event in Portsmouth, NH this fall (got rained on!) and met Tracy. We always give fairy house presents to all kids' friends for birthdays, etc.

Thanks for giving our family such a wonderful, magical gift!!

Dear Tracy,
Thank you so much for meeting Madison and I while in Maine. Thanks for signing the artwork, too. I wanted to share with you Madison's Hawaiian Fairy House.

Those are mangoes from our tree. That is a sweet-smelling plumeria flower atop.

I found out about the Fairy Houses, when I was in LLBean and Tracy had a table there, I bought her book "Fairy Houses ... Everywhere!" I collect signed books for my adult daughter for christmas or her birthday (which is dec. 21st).

I never thought my 8yr. Granddaughter would be interested in building them---was I every wrong. Since I live walking distance from the beach and we are gardening people by nature, when she comes to visit we are always outside. She has had a lot of fun building houses, they are getting more elaborate each time. I would love to have Tracy sign this book but don't know how to get it to her, any ideas?

Hi there,
We found out about Fairy Houses this summer when Barry and Tracy came to the Sandwich Public Library for a reading and community Fairy House building. Our family is pictured on the Sandwich Library events page. Our 9 year old daughter loves building and has taught many of her friends the right technique. We ordered some books for her buddies for Christmas.

Thanks for the great work!

I LOVE YOUR SITE. I'm so glad I found you. I have actually frozen some milk weed pods for next spring. I understand fairies love them for beds. I'm giving the book and dvd to my fab sister to share with her 3 granddaughters who are in the process of building fairy houses. I will take pictures.

thank you for your wonderfulness. Merry Christmas!!!!!!

This is a quick note to thank Tracy Kane for her magnificent movie! We borrowed "Kristen's Fairy House" from our local library and watched it together. My daughter 8 and son 6 were inspired to build their own fairy houses. I love the concept of nature and fantasy coming together to create such beauty and meaning.
Thank you, Tracy!

Ms. Tracy Kane,
I discovered your books 9 years ago and they have blessed my daugthers lives!! It has been a wonderful world for them to grow up in while being tutored for their love of nature and creation through your fairy books. I find that many of their friends have not had the opportunity to benefit from belief in fairies or the enjoyment of creating a fairy home.

Once again, thank you very much for creating a beautiful series that has blessed our lives and given us many memories and great creations in our yard. I enjoy the neighbors who come over to see what creation my children are working on next. Have a delightful day and may your imagination fly!

Kindest regards,
Stephanie Powell

Love all the pictures! My 11 year old loves to make fairy houses. She gets awfully upset when my husband mows the lawn because she is afraid the 'grass dust' will bother them. She has made some above ground level, she insists some fairies like to sleep up off the ground. great site!

What wonderful timing!

I am in my 3rd year of offering a Summer camp - 'Enchanted Fairy Camp'. Tuesday is 'Fairy Houses Day' (well, we make them every day but on Tuesday we go for a walk and make them in the trees, then back to camp to make fairy houses to take home. it is our most popular day!

We read Fairy Houses the day before, then watch Kristen's Fairy House on Fairy Houses Day. It is just the right length - and gives my assistant and I enough time to set up the tables with all the lovely things the children need for their houses. (It's our only TV time all week and it's an exhausting day!). The children make fairy dolls, and dishes from clay.

I will send some pictures your way of the girls making houses in the trees and back at camp. We hear from the parents that the kids are making fairy houses everywhere they go!

So, in the middle of an exhausting but wonderful summer, your email was lovely!

Dear Tracy and Barry,
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon last Tuesday at the Osterville Library here on Cape Cod. Sydney (the fairy princess of the day) and I had a great time as did many of the other children. We stayed quite late and later came back to watch a children's Calypso band. Sydney (and Kathleen's 2 girls, Sarah and Katie) showed off their fairy houses in the tree to their neighborhood friends. They are fascinated. We are having a friend over tomorrow and the only thing my daughter wants to do is show her how to make a fairy house!

Thank you for your time and energy. Well wishes.
Sincerely,
Nettie Berkeley

I got Ms. Kane's three books for my daughter last year (who was 4 at the time) and later the video. Since that time she has built more fairy houses than I can count! Whenever we are on a beach, which is almost daily in the summer, she builds one. Today's house included a kitchen and bathroom with a walled in toilet because "fairies can just fly over".

Ms. Kane's books have fired an already over-active imagination in such a positive way. My daughter wants to visit Monehegan Island to see the inspiration for "Fairy Houses". Thank you Ms. Kane!

I was at the Centerville MA library the other morning and got chatting with another Mom. She had been to a gathering at the Osterville Library and was speaking very highly of the fairy houses. Funny enough we had just been to Monhegan where we built our own house and enjoyed the many that were already there. She gave me your website and now my girls can see even more!!

Thanks,

Your site is magnificient. Your stories are great for encouraging imagination and love of nature in children. I especially loved the pictures of the children with the residents at the retirement home. Your website was mentioned in an emial I received today from a group of quilters that make quilts and stories about fairies. When I have grandchildren I will purchase your books and videos. Please keep up the wonderful work with children and their imaginations.

Hello,
I love your stories! And my daughter Claire so enjoys making fairy houses in our woods! We have even made one in a box to bring to show and tell at her pre-school to share with her friends. I am buying a book for her and her cousin for Christmas, I hope I can wait to give it to them!

As soon as we watched the video, I thought I recognized Shaw's Fish Market! I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the Hardy Boat Cruises, and knew that our next trip to South Bristol would take us over to Monhegan Island to see the fairy houses there! What a wonderful inspiration!

Thanks for the imagery

I am sorry it has taken me so long to write and thank you for sending another tape for my Granddaughter Stephanie. It was much appreciated. Last Sunday we took a walk on a section of Sandy Neck beach and all along the trail Stephanie would tell us she would see signs that the fairies had been there. Then she found what she told us was their fairy house and her Uncle tried to get the picture. I am afraid it has more of Stephanie but if you look in the picture you will see how something light settles in the left hand corner where Step said the fairy house was. Her Uncle Jeff said it was the fairy dust. I had signed her up to build fairy houses and your book was to be read in November but it was too cold. Hoping they will do this again this spring or in the summer. She has made believers out of us all. She loves your books and the tape. Again thanks so much!!!

My grandaughter visited with us recently and talked her cousin Tyler into helping her build a Fairy House. I helped a little. She asked me if I would send it to your web site and ask that it be added to the pictures she had taken when at the Sanford, Maine library.

I am not very good at this sort of thing but here goes. Thank you for listening.

Hello!
Just a little Fairy Hello to say that my daughters, husband and I enjoyed meeting Tracy and Barry at the Fairy Festival in Glen Rock, PA. We live in Baltimore and we thrilled to discover the Fairy Festival just a 45 min. drive away.

We love the DVD Kristen's Fairy House and have build some fairy houses of our own. We also have had a fairy party. We will try to send pictures. We hope to travel to Maine sometime to see all of the fabulous fairy houses!

Thanks again to Tracy and Barry for a wonderful chat.

Hello Tracy Kane!
A couple of years ago my mother, daughter and I were visiting LL Bean in Freeport and you were there for a book signing. My three year old daughter and I built a fairy house. She was immediately hooked and we found ourselves reading the stories for the rest of our visit in NH.

Since this time ( she is now 5 ) we build fairy houses every camping trip we take. It has become a tradition. We live in the west, so our fairy houses can vary in content. My daughter has involved her 11 year old cousin and whenever they are together, they go off and build one.

Recently, my daughter had a fairy birthday party and all the kids built fairy houses! They had a great time. I just wanted to thank you. It has proven to be a very important learning/teaching, memory creating idea. It has also given me an idea for an activity/event in the school I work in! :) Any chance you'd come out west and do an author's visit? Just an idea..
Sincerely, Karen Millenbach

Hello there,

I had mentioned a year ago about our summer Fairy Camp ...it was so popular that we have doubled the weeks this year. The girls' favourite activity HANDS DOWN was making the fairy houses. We made them inside large baskets so that they could take them home and I still hear stories of the girls sending and receiving notes via their fairy houses, and they take great care of them. I can see ours ouside our front window, hanging from a tree. The girls made fairy furniture and clay plates and cups.

We also went for walks and made fairy houses as we went along.
The video was very much enjoyed. Please bring it out on DVD! It is a perfect length and so real.
Thank you!

This is our story to share...
We had a wonderful time at the opening of "Fairy Houses - The Musical".
First we had dinner at Flat Breads pizza and stopped to pose for a picture in front of the ferries. Then our little fairies danced around the anchor and bell monuments until it was curtain time. The doors opened and we immediately headed for the snack table because pizza and salad just wasn't enough for these growing little fairies. After animal crackers and apple juice, we got our programs and waited in line for an autograph from and a picture with author Tracy Kane. The story was beautiful and the acting was quite impressive. We look forward to coming again!

Hello,
I just placed an order for the Fairy Houses Series. Does Ms Kane personalize those books when she signs them?? If so - could she address them to Kristen. She is my daughter, and a true fan of the Kristen's Fairy Houses movie. She is a cancer survivor --(brain cancer) and just celebrated her 6th birthday. She is a happy healthy and very energetic little girl! Thank Ms. Kane for writing such a lovely story -- I was surprised to see the other books, and can't wait to read those as well! We were on the waiting list at the book signing in Falmouth Maine at Ocean View Nursing Facility. We were sad we couldn't attend. Hope all went well. And we hope to visit the Childrens Musuem if time allows!!
Thank you again & God Bless.

Hello,
My granddaughter, 4 1/2, has love the Fairy Houses book and Kristen's Fairy House video very much. I have to admit, all the adults love it too.

She has been inspired to create a fairy house at Granny's house, and one at her own home. The imagination is beautiful. She has grown keenly interested in Monarch butterflies as a result.

Thanks to Ms. Kane for a gorgeous idea!

My daughter and son spent the whole summer building fairy houses wherever we went. There are houses in our yard, at my mothers, and in many states, as we spend a lot of time camping. Because of the wonderful fairy books my daughter has a new love for nature and the world of fairies.

Dear Tracy,
My daughter Samantha and I attended the reading of Fairy Houses at the Groton Public Library in Groton, CT. Since that time Samantha has been building fairy houses everywhere we go, including her school.

Samantha is a student in Mrs. Landroche's kindergarten class. I read Fairy Houses to her class. I also brought along lots of natures best materials for building fairy houses. Below is what the children had to say about their experience building fairy houses.

Per the Students of Mrs. Landroche's Kindergarten class:

"We made fairy houses. We used bark, sticks, shells, leaves, pine cones, rocks, grasses, berries, wood chips and flowers. Everything was from nature. It is good to build fairy houses near a garden or the woods or a meadow or somewhere where you can find lots of stuff to build with. We built our houses in a garden near our classroom. We loved building fairy houses. It was really fun."

They now call that garden area "Fairy House Village". They even built a fairy school! It was great fun to share your book and love of fairies with the children. The class will be reading Fairy Boat and Fairy Flight within the next few weeks. Mrs. Landroche is hooked and plans on building fairy house every year.

I love your books and it is wonderful to see the joy in Samantha's and the other children's faces when they work on and visit their fairy houses.

Thank you for the inspiration.

I just found Emily and her Nana's picture (me) on the web site. I must tell you what a fun time I had. There is a child in us all. I grew up in Nova Scotia and was for three years a Brownie. I was in the "Fairy Patrol". It shaped my life until now and I am 62! My other granddaughter in California is a fairy lover too:)

Emily and I went to the river the next morning to show the family and you won't believe it but all the chestnuts were gone!! Just as in your book. What a thrill.

Thank You!

Hi!
We met at the Boston Show and I mentioned that we, too, are fairy house builders. These are photos from last summer. They (the houses) are still at Lake Whitehall which is in Hopkinton, MA.
Thank you for all the joy your books and video has brought to our lives. We are so grateful to savor the gifts of nature. We have even received notes from the Woodland Fairy and the Meadow Fairy!

My daughter and I were just so excited about receiving the lastest addition to the Fairy Houses Series that we weren't very patient in waiting! Dear Tracy,
My mother met you earlier this summer at Mackworth Island during a garden tour. She told you about my daughter's idea for starting a book club with her friends. My mother suggested that I email you, with pictures attached.

My daughter Kate was a bit sad at the end of Kindergarten. She decided to start a book group with a few of her friends. Her idea was to choose a book for me to read, then do a related craft and have some kind of thematic snack to go along with the book. For the first meeting, Kate had no trouble choosing her favorite books, Fairy Houses and Fairy Boats. We went to a nearby craft store and found some inexpensive model sail boats, perfectly suited for fairies. We got fabric markers to decorate the sails along with shells and starfish to decorate the boat.

I read the stories aloud as the girls sat on blankets on our deck. Our guests were mesmerized by the stories and illustrations. Then we made the fairy boats (my husband had assembled the wooden models ahead of time), coloring and attaching the sails and decorating the decks. After they were done, they launched their boats in a kiddy pool. I had made each child a tiny fairy out of beads and fabric flower pedals to take home. We ended the event with sugar cookies sprinkled with fairy dust.

The attached pictures show the entire group holding up their completed fairy boats. One picture is of a friend named Paige, who is holding her boat and fairy (with fuchsia cover-up on) and the other is of my daughter Kate in a blue and green striped suit.

We are huge fans of your stories. My mother just purchased your newest book for us, Fairy Flight. Thank you for writing such wonderful books, stories that have sparked the imagination of my girls. Every summer we go to a cottage in Belfast, ME, which is now surrounded by the most adorable fairy houses. We're on our way there now and I know the first thing Kate will do when she gets out of the car is to check her fairy houses.

We look forward to reading your books for years to come.
Thank you, Kelly Sanders

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sending the picture of Taylor and Madison's fairy house. This will be such a fond memory for both of them. Long live the fairies!

Dear Tracy Kane
After reading your article "Fairy Tale" in the Sunday paper, it made me wish I were a child again. At the age of 80, however, it's not possible!
Having three great grandchildren, I would love to be able to purchase your two books and video for their Christmas present.
They are at a great age for Fairies.
Looking forward to reading them myself and giving joy to them for Christmas and many years to come.

Thank you so much for sending "Fairy Boat" out to my daughter!! She can't wait to get it, she will be so happy when it arrives! She is a true believer in Fairies! Her room is decorated with Fairies, she had a Fairy Birthday Party and she is going to be a Fairy for Halloween!

We came across your book at Winterthur after visiting their "Enchanted Woods" ( a special garden for Fairies and believers too!) and we both love it! She is always looking for things to use to build a Fairy House. And the best part of the book for her is in the end when the Fairies turn into Monarch Butterflies!

We raise Painted Lady Butterflies and Swallowtail Butterflies every summer, and this summer we are raising 25 Monarchs!! We have released 12 of them already and we will probably be releasing 5 or 6 today and have more hatching today too!! Your book is simply wonderful!! Thank you again so very much!

I want to thank you for sharing your imagination with my cousin and I. We both had so much fun in Castine at the Wilson Museum. If there will be any other fairy events in Castine or around that area I would love to come. Write me and let me know so we don't miss out on all the fun.

Hello Tracy and Barry!!
Thank you so much for the great time we had at Macworth on Saturday. We love your website and it was great to see all the pictures of the different fairy houses. Today we went back to check on our fairy houses, and guess what??? The fairies had paid a visit to our house. All of the fairy food was gone!!! The bath water had been used. We were also happy to see the wonderful new sign introducing the fairy village!!! What a great idea!! In the future we hope to make more fairy houses. When we do, we will send pictures.

Thanks again for a terrific experience,

I met you, Tracey, at BEA...Sunday afternoon and fell in love with your Fairy Houses book....and bought one for my neice for her birthday. I just wanted to report to you that she LOVED it and after reading it to her as a bed time story....FIRST thing when she woke up, she wanted to make fairy houses.

We were both visiting my mom, her grandma, at the time...who donated a special "secret garden" to us for the project. IT WAS PURE MAGIC.....we made fairy houses.....and more fairy houses.....and had to keep checking on them for days to see if the fairies came. Fairy dust magically appeared at our fairy house doors.....delighting us completely and causing many more hours of fairy house construction.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for such an awesome book and awesome project. We plan to build more every time we visit grandma's house.....and probably a few will find there way into our own back yards too! I got some really cute jpg pictures, if you'd like to see.

Much aloha from Maui, Eve

Hello, As a small girl my family and I vacationed in Maine on Monhegan Island. It was there that we started building fairy houses. We called them elf houses then. My Mother thought of it, from the title of that patch of forest, the Enchanted Woods. As we would walk along the trails, we'd often stop to build these little houses. That was twenty eight years ago. I just found your video in our town library, and am amazed at the changes on the island, but I am glad that children still build the houses. I think it's neat that there is a sign now, directing them to use only natural materials. I watched the video with my two children, and my mother. We plan to make a trip out there next summer to share the magic with the next generation. Thank you for reminding me, Bobbi Double ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello. My two sons and I met you at Poofberry's last Saturday. We were also with a few other women and four girls. Our large group separated into two smaller groups to build fairyhouses. We are wondering when the pictures you took will be on the web site. Alex and Joey and I went out today to enjoy this gorgeous fall day to collect things and build a fairyhouse in our own back yard. We are excited to visit it tomorrow morning to see if anyone visited. We really enjoy your book. Thank you for showing us about fairyhouses.

After seeing your video "Kristen's Fairy House" my granddaughter Mary Clara and I built not 1, but 4 fairy houses in Wetherbe Woods in Castine, Maine. What fun!! Mary Clara is expecting a baby brother or sister in September, so she was inspired to build a nursery for a fairy's baby. Thank you,
Mary Ellen, from Houston, Texas

I found out about you (Kristen's Fairy House) a couple of years ago through Mothering Magazine, while we were temporarily living in San Francisco. To our surprise and delight, the first thing our older daughter wanted to do upon our return to our home in Japan last year was to build a fairy house. Aya and her father built the house together last summer, and I think the fairies must have moved in, as this spring we discovered a ring of small purple flowers had grown around the house! We are off to Maine (where I am from), where there are lots of fairies waiting for us! Thank you again, Maura Murphy

Absolutely adore Kristen's Fairy House. Your stuff is so good. Please don't stop. Please keep going. Please do more of this quality wonderful stuff. Please continue this good work because I don't think anyone else is doing it as well as you people. We need your videos. We have had such enormous fun with KFH video and our granddaughters could hardly wait for that video to finish the first time they saw it, they wanted to begin immediately making fairy houses and they have done so non-stop ever since when there's an opportunity."

We found your video at the library and have watched it several times each day. My backyard is now filled with fairy houses that my two daughters (age 3, 4) have created. My heart leaps with joy as I see their eyes and minds light up as they create these magical creations. I hope for more of your wonderful work! I am also glad to finally be able to order my own copy!
Sincerely, a very pleased mother, Stephanie, Salt Lake City, Utah

Just a note to say how much we have thoroughly enjoyed the video Kristen's Fairy House. My son Travis and my wife and I have watched it over and over. Travis also shared the video with his Grandmother from Texas and now she has shared the experience of building fairy houses with her other grandsons in Tx. She still talks about fairy house today and always asks our son if he has built any lately. Every time we go camping or a walk in the woods we always build a fairy house out of what nature provides. Thanks again for a pleasant and entertaining experience. We are also looking forward to purchasing the new book Fairy Houses. P.S. When I locate the pictures of our latest fairy houses we have built I will forward them to you.

A friend bought your video for her niece and they built fairy houses for a weekend 'thing to do'. I've been landscaping a five acre area around a one acres pond in an all 'natural environment' theme and got the idea to do 'hidden' fairy houses and such in the landscape. It was purely coincidental that my friend shared Kristen's Fairy House with me. I've known her forty years and did not know she was into fairy things. She loaned me her video, which totally changed my concept of fairy houses and what to do with the landscaping. I don't know how she found you, but she raved on your site. Let me know when the book is out.

My grandchildren Emily and Gary and I built fairy houses this summer while they were visiting from Indonesia. We collected pine cones, bark and other items. We used an old nest that had been a in a bush in my front yard for years. We added shells we collected at the beach and left "food" for the fairies in the nest.
