Hi Tracy - I met you at Book Expo. We hosted a Fairy House program on August 9. All the participants loved it. Attached is a picture from the day.

Thanks, Nancy Wood, Richmond Memorial Library, Marlborough, CT

My name is Molly Kuehn. I am an employee of the Flagstaff City Coconino County Public Library in Flagstaff, AZ. Last week, the library held a program called "Fairy House Building" based on the book by Tracy Kane.

First, I read the book to the 23 boys and girls attending and then we went out onto the lawn of the library to build our fairy houses. We found a nice flower bed and began to build. Each child was responsible for bringing his or her own materials (of course, following the rules of fairy house building...nothing artificial or living). I was amazed by what the kids brought; feathers, rose petals, corn husks, seashells, all-natural wool. One child even spent the morning brushing her dog so she could make a dog-hair carpet.

The houses were fantastic! A few children had built a kitchen table in their house with seashells full of beans for bowls of fruit. Others built a path of seashells that lead to the "outdoor reading lounge".

Sincerely, Molly Kuehn

The Lee Public Library had the privilege of a visit this fall from the very talented children’s author/illustrator Tracy Kane. Tracy presented an engaging and inspiring program for our patrons of all ages. Tracy read from her new book, Fairy Flight. This wonderful story about two girls and their adventure with butterflies and fairies captured the attention of the audience. Many were already fans of Tracy’s previous fairy books Fairy Houses and Fairy Boat. After reading her wonderful new book, she led us outside for a magical time of building fairy houses in the woods behind our library. Tracy inspired many children and beautiful fairy houses were built by all. We are sure many fairies visit our library woods now after Tracy’s visit. Tracy’s workshop was fascinating to all. I would recommend a visit from Tracy Kane to your library or school very highly!

Tracy Kane is the number one celebrity amongst our 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students. It was pure joy watching them as the listened intently to Tracy as she read her book, and then again as they created fairy houses of their own. Tracy's visit has inspired an enormous variety of activities in our school, including nature walks, artwork, sorting, collecting, reading, writing, math and science activities, web browsing, and best of all...cooperating! I am still hearing fairy house stories every day from students, parents and teachers!
Tracy has given us all a wonderful, magical memory.

Dear Tracy,
My daughter Samantha and I attended the reading of Fairy Houses at the Groton Public Library in Groton, CT. Since that time Samantha has been building fairy houses everywhere we go, including her school.

Samantha is a student in Mrs. Landroche's kindergarten class. I read Fairy Houses to her class. I also brought along lots of natures best materials for building fairy houses. Below is what the children had to say about their experience building fairy houses.

Per the Students of Mrs. Landroche's Kindergarten class:

"We made fairy houses. We used bark, sticks, shells, leaves, pine cones, rocks, grasses, berries, wood chips and flowers. Everything was from nature. It is good to build fairy houses near a garden or the woods or a meadow or somewhere where you can find lots of stuff to build with. We built our houses in a garden near our classroom. We loved building fairy houses. It was really fun."

They now call that garden area "Fairy House Village". They even built a fairy school! It was great fun to share your book and love of fairies with the children. The class will be reading Fairy Boat and Fairy Flight within the next few weeks. Mrs. Landroche is hooked and plans on building fairy house every year.

I love your books and it is wonderful to see the joy in Samantha's and the other children's faces when they work on and visit their fairy houses.

Thank you for the inspiration.

I am the school librarian at Spaulding School in Gurnee, IL. I read the book Fairy Houses to a first grade and second grade class. We built fairy houses on school property and were wondering if the pictures we took could be published on your web site. I have sent one picture as an attachment to this email. If this is possible, please respond to this email and we will write about our experiences and the other activities we did in conjunction with this book. We will then submit that article with the rest of our pictures. We had so much fun and the children learned to work together and had ideas for writing that would last months!

We found your video at the library and have watched it several times each day. My backyard is now filled with fairy houses that my two daughters (age 3, 4) have created. My heart leaps with joy as I see their eyes and minds light up as they create these magical creations. I hope for more of your wonderful work! I am also glad to finally be able to order my own copy!
Sincerely, a very pleased msother, Stephanie, Salt Lake City, Utah
