Architectural Design Competition
Design An Award-Winning Fairy House!

Entry Form

Enhance Community Service and Inspire Youth
This is an inter-generational event in which grandparents, parents and children will construct and view fairy houses in the gardens of the South End in Portsmouth, NH. Building fairy houses has been practised by families on islands off the coast of New England for decades. This creative activity has produced habitats for fairies that range from simple and rustic to detailed fairy mansions.

2005 Award-Winner
Architect Tim Giguere of TMS Architects received the winning votes, competing with local architectural companies for this prestigious design award.

The event was inspired by Tracy Kane’s acclaimed Fairy Houses Series of books and video that brought this magical idea to communities across the country. Last year’s tour was extremely successful, attracting over 3,000 tour participants plus many other visitors!

In the tradition of the Crane Beach sandcastle competition on Cape Anne, we invite you to design and construct a fairy house design to be displayed in the Sheafe Warehouse at Prescott Park. Architects, Interns, Designers, and those studying architecture will find this a compelling challenge..

This is an inter-generational event in which professionals, grandparents, parents and children will construct fairy houses. Additionally, we are collaborating with non profits: Strawberry Banke Museum, John Langdon House, Prescott Park, Prescott Park Arts Festival, and Little Harbour School. Ticket proceeds from the event will help benefit these non profits.
