FAIRY BOAT - Now Available
Voted in Children’s Book Sense list recommended by the American Booksellers Association
.

What happens if you build a house for the fairies to travel in?Till they have a safe journey?

If Tracy Kane has anything to say about it, they probably will. She’s the author/illustrator of the new book, Fairy Flight, latest book in the critically-acclaimed, award-winning Fairy Houses Series

Her name is Fairy Boat, and she is the loving creation of Chelsea, Gram and Grandpa. They launch her at the creek in Fairy Woods and she begins to wind her way downstream. But wait! A goose chases her into Big River, beyond their reach! Fairy Boat now faces many dangers. Can the fairies help? Will Chelsea ever see her again?

Learn about the life of a river as it travels towards the ocean and the influences of nature and man on our waterways. A fun map is included in the book.

The story of Fairy Boat parallels life's journeys, with rough waters and unexpected events at each turn. Yet, woven throughout are wondrous, even magical moments, waiting to inspire us. (Look for fairies hiding on many of the pages.)

There may be more than Nature at work here!

“Top Picks” Children’s Book Sense List
American Booksellers Association highly regarded biannual listing of most recommended children’s books

"Kane's blurred, pastel illustrations, best shared during quiet lap sits, will draw children in with their magical details and whimsy."
Booklist - Gillian Engberg

"This is the kind of book, told in terms children can easily understand, that teaches them to expect the unexpected...... The brilliant colors on every page are sure to hold your child's attention. This is a very nice book."
The Midwest Book Review

" .. the pictures are just remarkable, with gorgeous colors and excellent artwork ..... my daughter, who is six, was just beaming from looking at the drawings and listening to the story unfold."
Book Review Cafe

"The combination of great illustrations, a fun story, and hidden fairies to find, make this another delightful book to share with young ones."
Pinetree Garden

Enchanted by the Fairy Houses Series story concept, Light-Beams Publishing and Great White Dog Picture Company first worked with Kane to create the children’s video Kristen’s Fairy House. It immediately received accolades from trade publication reviews, plus an armful of prestigious awards - including the Parents Choice Gold Award, Notable Children’s Video - American Library Association (1 of 10 chosen for 1999), Parenting Magazine - Video Magic Award, Gold Award - Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, and Honors Award - National Parenting Publications.

Following on the video success, Fairy Houses and now Fairy Boat is attracting a wide audience - children, parents, grandparents, gardeners and naturalists. “Part of the appeal,” says Kane, “is that fairy houses can be built in any season, anywhere – even in your own back yard!” The book concludes with a section on how to get started with your own fairy house, and is clearly responsible for the wave of fairy house building activity that is now sweeping the country.

Tracy Kane majored in illustration at Philadelphia College of Art. She also studied at the Wimbledon College of Art in London, England where she met her husband. She worked for several years as a commercial artist and EMMY nominated set designer for Public Television. She is an art association president, active in the New Hampshire Art Association, and spends much of her time illustrating and painting. She and her husband live in New Hampshire with their cat Toulouse.

Fairy Boat is the second children’s picture book and third product in the "Fairy Houses Series".
