You are invited to create a Fairy House for display at the 2012 Tour on September 15 (9:00-1:00 pm) and September 16 (11:00-3:00 pm). All accepted participants who pre-register by July 31st will receive two free tickets to the Tour.

GUIDELINES FOR BUILDING FAIRY HOUSES

  • Use natural materials - dry grasses, leaves, sticks, pebbles, shells, bark from a fallen tree, milkweed pods, acorns, berries, gourds, miniature pumpkins, pinecones - are a few examples.
  • All fairy houses must appear to be made entirely of natural components. Hot glue, acrylic spray, natural twine and other man-made items can be used but must be completely concealed by natural elements.
  • Platforms or man-made support materials can be used for easier delivery and transport, but must be concealed with natural materials when installed on-site.
  • Houses may be any size and the theme of the house may be anything you wish.
  • Please do not use any items of value in the houses.

DELIVERY & INSTALLATION

  • Your completed house should be brought to Strawbery Banke museum for installation on Friday, September 14th between 3pm – 6pm. No fairy houses will be accepted on Saturday morning, September 15th this year because of the earlier opening time. If you are unable to delivery your fairy house during the drop off hours, please contact us and we will try to make other arrangements for you.
  • To deliver, park at the Strawbery Banke Museum parking lot, (www.strawberybanke.org) and go to the information desk at the Visitor Center. You will be directed where to set up your fairy house.
  • Small signs will be provided for you to display a name of your fairy house as well as your own, if you wish.
  • Houses may be picked up after 3:00pm Sunday, September 16th.
