Where the Children Play:
Discovering, Creating and Using Outdoor Spaces
October 5, 2011 · Cody Outdoor Center, Freedom, NH
8:30am - 4:30pm
Join us to explore the many ways we can reconnect children, youth and families with nature, whether by discovering new ways to use our backyards, city parks and other existing outdoor spaces; creating new outdoor spaces in schoolyards and neighborhoods; or conserving community land and providing access to community spaces.
Explore the many ways teachers, city planners, environmental educators, artists, park and recreation professionals, business owners, health practitioners, and community members can reconnect children, youth and families with nature. Discover ways to use our backyards, parks and existing outdoor spaces; create new outdoor spaces in schoolyards and neighborhoods; or conserve land and access to outdoor spaces.
One of the concurrent workshops will be presented by Tracy Kane:
B-1 – Building Fairy Houses Connects Children with Nature (Tracy Kane, Author and Illustrator)
What is a fairy house? How do Tracy’s books motivate children to enjoy their creativity? Building fairy houses with natural materials is an enchanting way to explore the outdoors. This activity reminds children of Nature’s daily magic while stimulating their design and construction skills. Educators, Environmentalists, Horticulturalists and nature lovers will appreciate this insight to discovering Nature’s wonders!
$45 registration includes:
