The Portsmouth Fairy House Tour is the world’s largest fairy house tour. Now in its 13th year, the Tour will feature over 200 handcrafted fairy houses made by local artists, florists, garden clubs club members, businesses, families and local school children.
Inspired by local author Tracy Kane’s Fairy Houses Series®, and produced by Friends of the South End with the assistance of Canoe Harbor Consulting, the annual Fairy House Tour attracts 6,500-8,000 families and fairies each year.
The Tour will take place on the grounds of Strawbery Banke, the Governor John Langdon House, and Prescott Park in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Tracy Kane, the award-winning author and illustrator of the Fairy Houses Series® of books – which popularized fairy house building worldwide – served as the original inspiration for the Portsmouth Fairy House Tour. Tracy will be on hand both days to greet fairy fans and sign books.
In addition, visitors can expect to see performances by the Southern New Hampshire Dance Theater and the NH Theatre Project.
The centerpiece of the Tour is the Artists Invitational competition. Ten select fairy houses build by creative professionals will be judged by a panel of three judges, including Fairy Houses Series® Author/ Illustrator, Tracy Kane.
Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships are donated to the nonprofit organizations, schools and civic groups that participate in the Tour. Since the Fairy House Tour began, more than $300,000 has been reinvested in the community.
Tickets are available online, and starting August 1 in select retailers. Advanced tickets are $25 per family, $12 per adult, $8.00 per senior and $4.00 per child ages 3-12. Tickets purchased on the day of the event are $15.00 per adult, $10.00 per senior, $5.00 per child ages 3-12, and $30 for families of two adults/ two children or one adult/ four children.
